Arsenal will extend Wenger’s contract Legend could return to succeed him

Arsenal have been powerful in competing for the Premier League title, which earns Wenger acclaim. Daily Mirror reports Arsenal top management prepare to extend Wenger’s contract for two years, keeping him until 2019. Moreover, Arsenal also plan to sign Vieira back, who is former captain in Arsenal, and let him succeed Wenger in right time.

Arsenal lately beat Man Utd and Bayern Munich, and it tops the Premier League scoreboard with Man City. Apparently, Arsenal’s outstanding records owe to Wenger. Therefore, Arsenal hope to extend Wenger’s contract. Daily Mirror reveals that Arsenal plan to extend his contract to 2019 in reward of his contributions. Wenger’s current Arsenal contract expires in 2017.

If the extension is successful, it means Wenger will have coached Arsenal for 23 years. Daily Mirror says Wenger failed to lead the team to the Premier League title in the past years, giving him huge pressure. But in this season, Wenger’s records are visible and his team is a strong contender for the league title. So the club prepares to extend his contract in advance to avoid distracting Wenger for the contract expiration.

Besides extending Wenger’s contract, Arsenal also start to choose a successor to Wenger and the team’s former captain Vieira is a candidate. It’s reported that The Gunners intend to invite Vieira back to work as an assistant coach under Wenger, and he will succeed Wenger when Wenger leaves. Now, Vieira is working in Man City FC as a head coach to the youth team. He played for Arsenal for 9 years with 406 appearances. Arsenal fans are happy about his return.
